Wasted Post
It seems like such a waste of time to basically repeat what I wrote yesterday, but there you go. Whatever I said yesterday goes even more for today. I seriously need this week to end.
On the plus side, I did get to work with a gentleman today who was wearing a chain mail shirt (yes – the kind made out of metal… you know… medieval armor!!!) as if it was the most normal thing in the world to wear. That was actually pretty freakin’ awesome. And hilarious. I’m actually still laughing about it – wish I had gotten a picture.
Otherwise, I’m still plugging along with The Diamond Age. I’ve been noticing the words he’s had to make up for this story. Usually, they’re slang type words, but based on real things. For example, “deke”… to read the phrase “We have to deke these mattresses” sounds strange. But after you noticed that the mattresses were created in the Matter Compiler (or MC) and that the kids want to “decompile” them, you get the notion that “deke” is slang for “decompile.”
I love that! In fact, makes me sort of think that I’ve been over-thinking this “come up with names for things that don’t exist” stress. I should have known, of course – I’m famous for over-thinking.
Now… if only I could skip past these next few days and head for the weekend. That would be FANTASTIC.
